Riess

At Taiga, Riess stands for enamel cookware from Austria: pots, frying pans and casseroles made from enamelled steel, plus bakeware, lunch boxes, storage containers and the Landlust milk churn. The family-run business dates back to 1550 — today, Riess stands for enamel made from natural minerals, designed to last for generations.

The Riess range at Taiga

For cooking, we stock the Aromapots pots and casseroles with lids, the Classic Pure Grey range with a casserole, stockpot and pouring pot, as well as the 3-piece NOUVELLE enamel starter sets — a compact cookware set for getting started. For frying, there is the extra-strong NOUVELLE enamel frying pan, Omas Bratpfanne in black enamel, the Bauernpfanne and the Profi oven roasting pans; in autumn, there is the iron chestnut pan. For baking, the range extends from the CLASSIC cake tin and the Sarah Wiener cake tin to the loaf tin made from baking enamel. The selection also includes the colourful Bunt Pastell range with a whistling kettle and organic waste bin, white lunch boxes and storage containers with ash wood lids.

Why Riess is a good fit for Taiga

Enamel is one of the most durable materials in the kitchen: a hard, smooth glass surface fused onto steel from natural minerals, without synthetic non-stick coating and easy to clean time and again. Riess forms the core of our cookware and extends into household products with storage containers and lunch boxes — you can also find the organic waste bin in bins.

Practical knowledge: enamel in everyday life

Enamel is oven-safe, flavour-neutral and does not absorb odours: you can brown food, serve it and store leftovers directly in the fridge, all in the same pot. The lunch boxes and storage containers with ash wood lids make use of this same property for storing food — with airflow, protected from light and without a plastic taste.

How do you care for enamel cookware properly?

Do not use harsh scouring products or steel wool, as they can scratch the enamel surface. Mild washing-up liquid and a soft sponge will keep the smooth surface in the best condition for as long as possible.

Is enamel cookware suitable for induction?

Enamelled steel is magnetic and therefore generally works on induction hobs — what matters is a flat, sufficiently thick base. The product details for each item are definitive, so check them briefly before buying.
