Taiga Eco Rating
With our Taiga Eco Rating, we place great value on transparency and have therefore developed special criteria according to which we closely examine the products in our Eco Store. Our sustainability criteria are clearly formulated and form the basis of our eco-shop. To get a holistic picture of the sustainability of the products, our criteria explicitly focus on considering the environmental impact throughout the entire product life cycle. Our Sustainability Criteria
Our Taiga Eco Rating is based on five sustainability criteria, each consisting of various features. For each product, we examine over 25 individual features as well as existing seals & certificates, and information from manufacturers and suppliers.
Based on this information, we evaluate each sustainability criterion, thereby creating a transparent and comprehensible assessment of a product's ecological and social properties.
For a product to be included in our Eco Shop, it must meet at least two sustainability criteria as sustainable or be classified as particularly sustainable in at least one criterion. If a product does not meet these minimum requirements or if insufficient information is available, it will not be included in our range.
This ensures that all products on Taiga meet our defined sustainability standards and offer a more sustainable alternative in everyday life.
5 Principles of Sustainability

We examine what raw materials a product consists of and what impact these have on the environment and resources. Among other things, we take into account natural, recycled, or renewable materials as well as the use of fossil raw materials. Products with resource-saving and durable materials achieve a better rating.

Sustainability doesn't end with the material. That's why we also consider the manufacturing processes behind a product. These include, for example, energy consumption, the use of renewable energies, environmental standards, certifications, and social and fair working conditions within production.

Packaging often consumes avoidable resources. That's why we assess how resource-efficiently a product is packaged. Factors such as packaging quantity, recyclability, material selection, and the use of plastic and single-use packaging are taken into account.

Even during use, a product can have an impact on the environment and health. Therefore, we consider, for example, durability, repairability, energy and water consumption, as well as possible pollutants or environmental impacts during use. Products that can be used for many years are rated more positively.

A sustainable product should remain in the material cycle for as long as possible. We therefore evaluate how well a product can be reused, repaired, recycled or biodegraded. The easier materials can be separated and reused, the better the evaluation.

Collaboration with manufacturers, industry, and NGOs
We would like to point out that when applying our criteria, we can only use the data available to us. If a product is not marked as "(particularly) sustainable" in a criterion, this may be because we lack the corresponding information. However, we are working closely with our manufacturers to close these potential gaps as quickly as possible.
It is our endeavor to actively work with business, research, and NGOs to improve evaluation methods for our products and thus come closer to our goal.
