How to choose a cleanser and cream
- For cream: For normal to slightly dry skin, Fair Squared recommends the Hydro protect 24h Cream.
- For cleansing: Lamazuna offers solid facial cleansers for dry and sensitive skin, combination and oily skin, and normal skin.
Our brands: why these in particular
When selecting our brands, we consider materials, origin and production. I+M states that it manufactures entirely in Germany, mostly in Brandenburg. According to I+M, the Regenerating Facial Oil is made with argan oil and immortelle; we checked its COSMOS ORGANIC certification in the certifier's register. We stock Fair Squared from Cologne for creams such as the Hydro protect 24h Cream, which Fair Squared says contains argan, olive and apricot kernel oils. Weleda adds Skin Food Light and Everon Lip Care to the range. Lamazuna specialises in solid facial cleansers that come without a bottle; we also checked the COSMOS ORGANIC certification of Lamazuna's solid make-up remover in the register. hello simple states that it manufactures in Berlin and Cologne and offers white, green and pink clays to mix yourself. For the manufacturers' claims, Taiga Transparency shows the source and scope of each claim on the product page: for the Hydro protect 24h Cream, Fair Squared cites a Fairtrade certification for ingredients, and the product page makes clear that it does not apply to the product as a whole.
Basic care and extras
Start with facial cleansing and choose a facial cream. Add a face mask if your skin needs more care. There is separate lip care for your lips and sun protection for the daytime.
In what order should you apply facial care?
Cleanse first, then apply cream or oil, followed by sun protection during the day. If you use a toner, apply it directly after cleansing.
Do you need a toner?
It is an additional step after cleansing, not a must: for most days, cleansing and cream are enough.
Do you need day and night cream?
Not necessarily. If you want more care in the evening, add a richer cream or an oil.
