Buying guide: material and lighting effect
Natural-fibre shades made from jute or bamboo diffuse the light softly and warmly, making them suitable for living and dining areas with a subdued ambience. Marble and glass wall lights give off clearer, more directional light and work well as accents on a single wall. Models with integrated LED, such as the ash wood designs, save energy and avoid bulb changes, but the light source is built in rather than fitted with a replaceable bulb holder. With jute shades, the diameter – 45 or 60 cm – determines how strongly the light is focused or diffused.

Which material is right for which room?

LED wall light or replaceable bulb holder?
Integrated LED, as used in the ash wood models, saves energy and maintenance, but cannot be fitted with different light sources. Wall lights with a conventional bulb holder offer greater flexibility.
