Trash can
A good bin does one thing reliably: the lid opens, waste goes in and smells stay inside — day after day, for years. At Taiga, you'll find bins and waste separation systems from Brabantia, from the compact 4-litre waste bin to the 40-litre Touch Bin for the family kitchen.
How to recognise a good bin
- The right size: For one to three people, 10 to 30 litres is usually enough; families are better off with 30 to 40 litres. Compact bins from 4 litres are ideal for bathrooms, offices or collecting food waste.
- Opening mechanism: A pedal bin can be opened with your foot when your hands are full — handy when cooking. Touch Bin lids open and close with a light press.
- Waste separation: Systems with several compartments — such as the Bo Touch Bin with three 11-litre compartments — separate general waste, packaging and paper in a single unit.
- Quality of the mechanism: The pedal, lid and compartments are the parts that work every day — durable construction pays off here.
Our brand: why Brabantia
Almost all the bins in this collection come from Brabantia — durable, thoughtfully designed and repairable rather than disposable; the enamelled food waste caddy from Riess is also ideal for kitchen compost. The classic Touch Bin and NewIcon pedal bins are available in several sizes and colours; some models are also available from us as quality-checked B-stock.
In practice: the right place in the kitchen
A spot under the worktop or inside a kitchen cupboard is especially popular: the bin remains within reach while cooking, yet stays out of sight. Freestanding pedal bins and Touch Bins also look good on display. For food waste, it's better to choose a small bin — three to five litres — and empty it regularly to prevent smells.
What bin size is right for my household?
As a rule of thumb: 10 to 30 litres for up to three people, 30 to 40 litres for a family of four. If you separate waste consistently, you can use a smaller general waste bin because packaging and paper are collected separately.
How can I separate waste without taking up much space?
With a waste separation system such as the Bo Touch Bin with three compartments: general waste, packaging and paper go into separate compartments in one unit — saving floor space and trips.
Pedal bin or Touch Bin?
Both open without much effort: the pedal bin with your foot — ideal when your hands are full while cooking — and the Touch Bin with a light press on the lid. In the end, it comes down to personal preference and where you want to place it.
