How to recognise good bedding
- The fabric: Flannel is brushed to trap air. Percale is a dense, smooth plain weave. Jersey is knitted and slightly stretchy. Muslin is loosely woven and creases softly. Satin is densely woven, smooth and has a subtle sheen; fleuresse offers it as Colours Mako Satin.
- The certifications: Mary Rose lists GOTS and Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold for Soft Perkal, while fleuresse lists OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for flannel and jersey. Our brands: why we chose them
When selecting our brands, we look at materials, origins and manufacturing. We stock fleuresse from Augsburg for woven designs and jersey: the manufacturer describes the Lech range as yarn-dyed flannel bedding; the product image shows it in anthracite, and fleuresse states that its Colours Mako Satin bedding is “Made in Europe”. According to its own information, Mary Rose has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation since 2016; the Soft Perkal is terracotta-coloured in the product image, while the Solid One bedspread is sage green. According to its own information, Hutch&Putch makes its muslin bedding in Germany and Poland, in shades ranging from anthracite and dusky pink to Midnight Blue. KOMA schlafgut processes kapok fibre into pillows and duvets in Germany, according to its own information.

Which bedding is suitable for each season?
Flannel is suited to autumn and winter. Percale and muslin are suitable all year round or for warm nights. Jersey sits in between: soft, but not thick.
What does yarn-dyed mean?
The yarns are dyed before weaving, so the pattern is created directly in the fabric. With printed bedding, by contrast, the colour sits on the surface of the fabric.
How do you wash flannel bedding?
According to fleuresse, the Lech flannel bedding from fleuresse can be machine-washed at up to 60 degrees.
