Description
The measuring jug is an indispensable tool for portioning cooking and baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk and water, as well as other cold or hot liquids. Inside the measuring jug are two scales: one showing litres in centilitres and, depending on the size of the jug, another showing 1/4 or 1/8 litres – the traditional Austrian unit of measurement for liquids.
The measuring jug has a comfortable side handle and a pouring spout, known as a beak, which makes pouring liquids easier. The enamel measuring jug is also ideal for heating precisely measured liquids such as milk or water for yeast dough, or soup for risotto. However, it should be heated over a low flame, as the base diameter is very small. When heating milk, it is advisable to add a little water to prevent it from burning.

Use & care
Before first use: Remove the sticker, fill with boiling water and vinegar, and leave to work for a short while. RIESS enamel can be washed in the dishwasher. Riess recommends hand washing to preserve the brilliant shine of the enamel for longer. If using a dishwasher, select the gentle glassware programme. Avoid wire brushes, wire wool, abrasive powders containing sand and cleaning sponges with ceramic particles. Store thoroughly dried; remove limescale with vinegar water.

Frequently asked questions about the series
Which Classic products are suitable for induction hobs?
According to Riess, the pots, saucepans and frying pans in the Classic range are suitable for all hob types, including induction. Start on a low heat and do not use the boost function. The compatible hob types are listed for each product.
Can Classic baking tins be used in the oven?
Yes, the baking tins and baking trays are designed for use in the oven. Riess does not specify a maximum oven temperature. The tins and handles become hot, so use oven gloves.
Can Classic enamel go in the dishwasher?
Yes, according to Riess, most Classic products are dishwasher-safe, preferably using the gentle glassware programme. For a lasting shine, Riess recommends washing them by hand. This information is provided for each product.
Why are there small areas without enamel around the rim?
According to Riess, these are support points from the manufacturing process: the cookware is hung on hooks to dry. Riess does not consider this a defect. To prevent flash rust from forming there, store the cookware thoroughly dried and occasionally grease the exposed edges with cooking oil.

Since 1922, Riess has been enamelling cookware in Ybbsitz, Lower Austria: glass fired onto steel at 850 °C. Riess pots and pans work on all hob types, including induction.
