Description
Description
The kitchen measure, or measuring jug, is an essential tool for portioning cooking and baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, water and other hot or cold liquids. Inside the measuring jug are two scales: one shows litres in centilitres, while the other, depending on the size of the jug, shows 1/4 or 1/8 litre – the traditional Austrian measurement for liquids.
The measuring jug has a comfortable side handle and a spout, known as a pouring lip, which makes pouring liquids easier. The enamel measuring jug is also ideal for heating precisely measured liquids such as milk or water for yeast dough, or soup for risotto. However, it should be heated over a low flame, as the base has a very small diameter. When heating milk, it is advisable to add a little water to prevent it from scorching.

Use & care
Use & care
Before first use: Remove the sticker, fill with boiling water and vinegar, and leave to soak briefly. RIESS enamel can be washed in the dishwasher. Riess recommends washing by hand to preserve enamel’s brilliant shine for longer. If using a dishwasher, select the gentle glassware programme. Avoid wire brushes, steel wool, scouring powders containing sand and cleaning sponges with ceramic particles. Store thoroughly dry; remove limescale marks with vinegar water.

Frequently asked questions about the series
Can I use Country crockery on an induction hob?
According to Riess, the spouted pots, saucepans and pots in the Country designs are suitable for all types of hob, including induction. Start on a low setting and do not use the boost function. The compatible hob types are listed for each product.
Is Country crockery dishwasher-safe?
Yes, according to Riess, almost all Country products are dishwasher-safe. For best results, use the gentle glassware programme. To keep them looking their best for longer, Riess recommends washing them by hand.
How do I care for enamel properly?
Use mild washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Wire brushes, steel wool and abrasive cleaners will scratch the surface. Allow hot cookware to cool before adding cold water.

Brand
Since 1922, Riess has been enamelling cookware in Ybbsitz, Lower Austria: glass fired onto steel at 850 °C. Riess pots and pans work on all hob types, including induction.
