About myfelt
myfelt is a Berlin-based label for felt-ball rugs, seat cushions and coasters. Since 2013, the team has designed these pieces on Brunnenstraße, while they are made by hand in Nepal.
Where myfelt comes from
- Based in Berlin since 2013, now myfelt GmbH
- Made at a partner workshop in Kathmandu, which myfelt says is an officially recognised training business
- myfelt is on GoodWeave’s list of licensed importers, an organisation working to prevent child labour in carpet production
How a felt-ball rug is made
- Virgin wool from New Zealand, sourced through New Zealand Wool Services International
- In Nepal, the wool is carded, washed several times and dyed
- Each felt ball is shaped by hand in several stages
- A proprietary knotting method joins up to 50,000 balls, with the thread running through the centre
- The top and bottom are identical, so you can turn the rug over
- Height around 2 cm; according to myfelt, suitable for underfloor heating
Collections
Mono, Multi, Whisper, Terra, Big One and 4Friends for children’s rooms, plus one-offs such as Carl, Linéa and Lotte.
Care
myfelt recommends dry-cleaning the rug: shake it out, beat it gently or vacuum without a brush attachment. Remove individual stains with soap, warm water and a sponge.
