Fürnis

Fürnis is a Vienna-based company for toys and children's products, with its own brand of wash mitts and ponchos: Fürnis Waschtiere. Each animal has a name and a profession, such as Hermine Hai the doctor.

Where Fürnis comes from

• Founded in 1993 by Wolfgang Fürnwein, who still runs the company as its owner
• Based on Servitengasse in Vienna's 9th district
• Three areas: wholesale of European brands in Austria, the Waschtiere own brand and the Mädchen und Buben shop

How a Waschtier is made

• The wash mitt is sewn by hand and, according to Fürnis, made from 100% cotton
• The seams are made from polyester to keep them elastic and tear-resistant; the embroidery is made from viscose
• Fürnis sources the fabric from Turkey, and the sewing is done in Bulgaria
• Fürnis states that it produces exclusively in Europe

• Wash mitts with opening mouths, also called wash gloves by Fürnis, including Anna Axolotl, Hermine Hai and Mathilda Meeresschildkröte
• Animal-themed bath ponchos featuring sharks, frogs and sheep: 57 x 57 cm, for children aged 2 to 6, head circumference 52 cm

Care

The wash mitts are machine-washable at 60 °C.
