More about Coasters
Felt trivets made from untreated virgin wool reliably protect your table from hot pots, jugs and mugs — while adding colour and texture to your table setting. At Taiga, you’ll find over 50 trivets from myfelt, from small models for mugs to the Béla Topfuntersetzer for roasting tins and baking dishes.
What to look for in a good trivet
- Material: Untreated virgin wool is naturally heat-resistant, water-repellent and dirt-repellent — with no additional impregnation.
- Thickness and density: Densely felted wool provides good insulation and protects delicate surfaces such as oiled wood or stone.
- Size: Small trivets are enough for mugs and glasses; pots and baking dishes need a large trivet such as the Béla Topfuntersetzer.
- Texture: Felt sits securely in place, softens the sound of putting down crockery and protects both the tabletop and the base of the pot.
Our brand: why myfelt
All the trivets in this collection come from myfelt. The brand makes them from untreated virgin wool; models such as Nilo, Kira, Noah, Liv and Merle add colour to the table and can be combined into sets — for a quick cup of tea or coffee as well as a large dinner setting.
How to care for felt properly
Wool saves you a lot of work: usually, all you need to do is shake out the trivet and leave it to air. Simply brush off crumbs, and dab stains with a damp cloth and a little mild wool detergent. Felt should not go in the washing machine, however — it can lose its shape and shrink.
Are felt trivets heat-resistant?
Yes. Virgin wool felt withstands the heat from pots, pans and jugs while also providing insulation — so the heat does not reach your tabletop in the first place. That is why felt trivets are a durable alternative to plastic and cork.
How do I clean a felt trivet?
Air it, brush it and dab stains with a damp cloth — that is usually all it needs. As wool repels dirt and water, spills do not soak in straight away.
To complement your table setting: enamel and ceramic tableware, table candles for the ambience and kitchen utensils for everything beforehand.
