How to recognise good table candles
- The wax: The taper candles in this selection are made from organic stearin — stearin is derived from fats, making it an alternative to petroleum-based paraffin.
- Burn time: With tealights, it is worth checking the stated burn time: the eco tealights burn for around 7 hours, while the organic tealights burn for up to 10 hours.
- The format: Slender 25 cm taper candles for a set table, 15 cm pillar candles that burn steadily for hours — and candles in jars that need no additional holder.

How to make candles burn more beautifully and for longer
Trim the wick to around five millimetres before each lighting — the flame will burn more steadily and produce less soot. When lighting pillar candles for the first time, let them burn until the entire surface has melted; this prevents the candle from tunnelling. And keep candles out of draughts: a flickering flame burns down more quickly and is more likely to drip.
How long do the tealights burn?
Depending on the version, around 7 hours (eco tealights) or up to 10 hours (organic tealights). The burn time is stated on each box, so you can find the right light for short evenings or long nights.
What is a scented & massage candle?
A candle whose wax melts into a warm oil that can be used directly for massage. The “Love” and “Relax” versions combine candlelight with body care — also a lovely idea for our gift ideas.
