More about Wall lights
A good wall light provides indirect light without taking up valuable surface space – the material, light distribution and the way it looks on the wall itself are all important. Taiga stocks wall lights from GOOD&MOJO and It's about Romi, made from materials such as bamboo, jute, marble, glass and ash wood, including LED models and jute designs with diameters of 45 to 60 cm.
Buying guide: materials and lighting effects
Natural-fibre shades made from jute or bamboo diffuse the light softly and warmly, making them well suited to living and dining areas with a subdued ambience. Marble and glass wall lights provide clearer, more directional light and work more as an accent on a single wall. Models with integrated LED, such as the ash wood designs, save energy and eliminate the need to replace bulbs, but the light source is permanently built in rather than fitted with a replaceable socket. With jute shades, the diameter – 45 or 60 cm – determines how strongly the light is concentrated or diffused.
Brands
GOOD&MOJO, a Dutch label, favours natural materials such as bamboo, jute and raffia. It's about Romi complements the range with marble and glass wall lights featuring a clearer, more pared-back design.
Which material is right for each room?
Natural fibres such as jute or bamboo suit warm, subdued spaces and living rooms. Marble and glass have a more formal feel and work well as accent lights in hallways or dining rooms.
LED wall light or replaceable socket?
Integrated LED, as used in the ash wood models, saves energy and reduces maintenance, but cannot be fitted with different light sources. Wall lights with a traditional socket offer greater flexibility.
For more light in a fixed position in the room, a floor lamp works well alongside it. You can find the full range of lights here.
