Our brands: why these in particular
When selecting our brands, we look at materials, origins and manufacturing. Riess says it makes its enamel cookware by hand in Austria, with its headquarters in Ybbsitz. Güde describes its knives as hand-forged since 1910 and as Solingen craftsmanship; according to Güde, the handle of the Alpha Fasseiche chef’s knife is made from oak from old wine barrels. At fleuresse, based in Augsburg, the manufacturer describes the Lech range as yarn-dyed flannel bedding, meaning the pattern is woven into the fabric rather than printed. According to its own information, Mary Rose has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation since 2016. The lamps from It's about Romi, based in Almere in the Netherlands, are available in glass, marble or wood. In personal care, I+M says it manufactures entirely in Germany, mostly in Brandenburg, while Fair Squared from Cologne offers creams, soaps and facial toners. In the home, according to Sonett, all the brand’s products are free from enzymes, petrochemical surfactants and synthetic fragrances, while Brabantia, which makes bins, ironing boards and rotary clothes dryers, states in its 2023 report that it keeps spare parts in stock for up to 20 years.
