Astaxanthin Plus 60 capsules from Sanatur is a natural pigment derived from the alga Haematococcus pluvialis. This pigment was formerly also known as haematochrome. The freshwater alga is just under 0.1 mm in size. Astaxanthin is structurally related to the well-known carotenoids: carotene, zeaxanthin, and lutein. Many scientists believe that it shares the functions attributed to carotenoids.
Astaxanthin Plus combines intensely colored plants and purely plant-based selenium.
- Astaxanthin gives the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis its red color.
- Anthocyanins are responsible for the dark blue color of blueberries.
- Mustard seed, as a source of selenium, is yellow.
