In Vietnamese culture, the heron symbolizes stability and harmony. Figures of herons standing on turtles are often found in pagodas and temples. These sculptures represent the harmonious connection between heaven and earth. The heron can also be seen on the famous Dong Son drums.
Our small vegetable knife "Hac" is perfect for peeling, cutting, garnishing and other food preparation tasks. Despite its compact size, the knife can easily handle harder foods such as potatoes.
Each of our knives is lovingly handcrafted by skilled artisans in a traditional blacksmith's workshop in Cao Bang in northern Vietnam. By purchasing a "Hac" knife, you are not only supporting the preservation of traditional craftsmanship, but also the local community in Cao Bang.

Since carbon steel blades are not rustproof, the knife should be washed by hand after each use and dried directly. After a few weeks of use, a natural, superficial discoloration forms on the blade, the patina. It protects the blade and gives it a unique character. If the knife is not used for a long time, we recommend rubbing the blade with a little vegetable oil.
