The kitchen measure or measuring cup is used to portion cooking and baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, water and other cold or hot liquids. Two scales on the inside of the kitchen measure or measuring cup show liters in centiliter increments or in ¼ or 1/8 liter (depending on the size of the kitchen measure), which is the traditional Austrian unit of measure for liquids. The measuring cup has a convenient side handle as well as a spout, called a beak, for easy pouring of liquids.
